Registration is the first stage of the admissions process, by which parents indicate their interest in a place for their child at Wrekin College. Parents fill in the registration form and pay a non-returnable fee of £100, thus securing a place for their child on the entry list for his/her year of entry. Parents normally visit the school before registration. For entry into Third Form we advise that children are registered by the end of Year 7 at the latest. Entrance examinations may not be taken unless a child is registered with the school.
Entry to Wrekin College is by examination, either Common Entrance, Open Scholarship or Wrekin College's own test papers. The Wrekin College 13+ examinations take place in November prior to the year of entry. All pupils at prep schools take Common Entrance exams and are expected to reach the pass-mark of 50%.
Following the entrance and scholarship exams we write to parents either in March or June (for Common Entrance), in most cases offering places. To secure the place, parents must complete the Acceptance Form and pay an initial deposit and, because we only have a fixed number of places, it is advisable to do so quickly.
