THE BUTTON BOX

2NT accounts of The Button Box

The whole story is about children who knock over Grandma's button box.  The main people are Jack, Alice, Charlotte, Grandma and Grandad.  In Grandma's button box there are stories of adventures of sailors, markets, hot sand and spiders.  There is even a story about a boastful frog who in the end gets his prize and ends up dead!  The first button is an anchor and it's about sailors travelling across seas to different countries.  The second one is a button from a red silk mandarin who tells a story about the frog king and the turtle.  At the end the turtle jumps on the frog king and that is the end of the frog king.  The third button is a coconut button where there is a spider who spills good wise things out to let people be wiser everywhere.  The fourth button is about a crow who dances and tops the bill as the star of the show with his dancing lady crows.  The fifth button is about an Indian market in Bombay and Uncle Albert and Jack buy lots of things and they are officers.  Finally they find a teddy bear button.  The children beg for one more story but Grandma says no and they go to sleep.
