In Netball, three Wrekin U16 and U14 teams took part in the Disneyland Paris Tournament during half term. School and Club teams from England, and a touring side from South Africa, competed over three days of competition. There were good performances from all three teams with the U14s reaching the final where they defeated Surrey Heath Netball club and clinched the trophy. Isola won a shooting award and Amber an award for holding 'The Plank' for over seven minutes! Out of all the Under 14 teams, Millie was also voted Under 14 'Player of the Tournament'.
Finally, in the week before half term, the Under 14 team swept all opposition aside to win the County tournament and now go forward to the West Midlands Finals in January.
The rugby teams had a tough week leading up to half-term. The U15s lost to Denstone at home in the Cup and the U14s lost away to Church Stretton School. The 1st XV were defeated by Newcastle under Lyme School 5-26. Hopefully all our injured players will be fit and well for the second half of term.
Three hockey teams played Ellesmere College. The 1st XI had an excellent 3-0 win. The 2nds had a well fought 0-0 draw and the U14s had a convincing win.
Wrekin's badminton team had another tough battle with Ellesmere College. Most matches ran to three games with the lead changing several times, but Ellesmere eventually won 9 - 3.
Against the Shrewsbury School 4th XI, the Senior Football team dominated possession and should have been out of sight by half time, based on the number of chances created. Unfortunately they were unable to capitalise and the game finished in a 2-2 draw.
Before half term, the Old Wrekinian Association Golf Day took place at Little Aston Golf Course.
Toby Davies won the Stableford competition, and in the afternoon, also won the Foursome tournament, paired with the former 1972 Bayley Head of House.
