Wrekin is delighted to have two teams, the Firsts and the Under 14s, through to the National Finals - an amazing achievement! The sides travelled to Bromsgrove School this weekend for the West Midlands Finals. The top netballing schools in the region were on show in a highly competitive environment. Both Wrekin teams played out of their skin to make their way to the semi-finals where they faced Bromsgrove School and Royal Grammar School Worcester. Convincing wins put both teams in the final where the Under 14s beat Solihull School; the First team lost a competitive match to Bromsgrove School but still secured a National Final place which means both teams will now travel to Welwyn Garden City in March to compete for a top 18 spot against the best teams in the country.

The squads collected their medals and trophies from the Headmaster in Chapel this morning.

Prior to their success at the West Midlands finals the Firsts won through to the quarter-finals of the Independent Schools Netball Cup after playing away at James Allen's Girls' School. The nailbiting game saw Wrekin beat the strong side from London 52-41 and they will now go on to play as one of the last eight teams competing in the Independent Schools Netball Cup. Well done team!

The netball teams continued their busy schedule last week with the Under 14s and Under 16s playing King's High School. The Under 14s cruised to a comfortable win and the Under 16s lost out by a couple of goals after leading for most of the game.

With some First team players resting ahead of the West Midlands tournament, two mixed senior teams played Haberdashers' Adams and Shrewsbury School last week both having very close and competitive matches.  The Under 15s lost out to Shrewsbury School but the Under 14(B) team, in their first game, played out a good 9-9 draw.

The Lancaster Under 13 team had a convincing win over Birchfield School.
