Old Wrekinian Dillon Pennington (Y. 10-17) has been representing  England in the ICC Under 19 Cricket World Cup in New Zealand. The competition was covered live on Sky and all the latest updates are on the cricbuzz live blog.

Having opened the bowling in the previous games, Dillon’s highlight was to take 3-27 in a fine initial spell against Australia to help bundle the Aussies out for 127 in the quarter final. Unfortunately, England’s batsmen did not support their bowlers and the low scoring game was ultimately lost. Nevertheless, Dillon received multiple plaudits from the Sky commentators, and Wrekin was mentioned several times.

Last season Dillon played for Shropshire County Cricket Club and is now in the Worcestershire Academy Squad. We are very proud of his achievements and look forward to hearing about his future successes.
