Andy Liu has worked consistently hard and gained exceptional results in his A level Maths averaging 99% across 18 modules despite taking the exams a year early in summer 2017. Andy achieved four A* grades in Mathematics, Further Mathematics and Additional Further Mathematics

Headmaster Tim Firth said his results were the best he’d seen in 30 years of teaching.

“Andy is the real thing as a mathematician and there are not many of those to the pound,” Mr Firth explained.

“It is hard enough, and very prestigious academically, to secure an A* at Further Maths A level, which is much harder than Maths, but Andy has superseded such achievement by miles and at a remarkably young age.

“I have taught in schools since 1987 and Andy's exam results are the best I've ever seen. To average 99% in 18 Maths papers is phenomenal.

“The fact that he is so modest about his talent and expects so much of himself makes him a superb role model at Wrekin. We are very proud of him and also of the Maths teachers who have done so much to help shape him here.”
