Bayley House is not just a house it is a home to seventy plus boys aged between 11 and 18. This eclectic mix of pupils comprises full-time and weekly boarders from Bayley, and some Lancaster boarders together with the Bayley day boys. Accommodation is arranged over three floors with the top two floors providing bedrooms and Sixth Form work space while the ground floor provides common rooms and communal spaces for all the year groups.
The Bayley House motto is Work hard, play hard; look after one-another and the resident Housemistress and her team have created a warm and friendly family unit. The strong team of tutors, assisted by the matron, ensures that every child is always treated as an individual.
A very busy place during the day, Bayley House is quieter in the evenings as the boarders settle down to do their prep and enjoy their free time before bed. This is the time for challenging games of pool, but it also promotes an ordered study area. Most boys share a double room but the Sixth Form boarders have a room of their own, eight of which are en-suite. Several common rooms give the boys choices and they can watch TV, play pool, table-football, and computer games, and the proximity to the Sports Hall gives an extended range of sports activities. The Upper Sixth perform very important roles within the House. Ably led by the Head of House, Henry Owen, a team of House prefects perform a variety of duties. The Head of Boarding, Eduardo Mihail Dodon will make sure all is well in the evenings and all the boys get to breakfast on time in the mornings.
Sport is very important to all the boys in Bayley House and the House is also out to successfully defend swimming trophies, cross country and Senior Debating trophies.
